UPCOMING CLASSES AND CLINICS

May 17 - 18, 2025

Garrett Dyer Clinics in Central Virginia

"Thresholds, Corners, & Tight Spaces - Oh My! - Saturday

The search environment often creates conditions that leave handlers wondering how they missed a hide.  These hides are usually found at or near the threshold, lurking in a corner, or in areas their dog finds unpleasant to investigate.  This workshop will discuss why managing thresholds and corners is sometimes necessary and discuss techniques handers can use to get their dog comfortable investigating tight areas.  Dog teams will practice strategies to ensure adequate coverage of thresholds and corners and work search problems to expose the dog to tight spaces to improve confidence

.

"Distractions, Distractions & More Distractions!" - Sunday

The search environment contains distractions, whether intentionally placed or they naturally exist.  How your dog experiences distractions in training is very mportant and often determines how the dog and handler will react or adapt to similar distractions in the future.  This workshop will discuss various methodologies of introducting distractions and helpful tips to condition the dog to focus on productive searh activity.  Managing environmental disruptors during a search will also be addressed.  The workshop provides flexibility in adapting to the level of the dog and their response to the environment.

There is room for auditors on Sunday if anyone is interested!
